Ukay - tagalog (I'm not sure if it is really a tagalog word) for used clothing, well, not just clothes, it can be bags or shoes for that matter. From my knowledge, Ukay is derived from the word 'halukay'.

halukay means to dig, to turn over and back either in search of something or to mix well.
Example: Hinalukay ni Maria ang aking mga kagamitan. (Maria rummaged through my things).
That, I guess, is what UKAY really means.
This blog is dedicated to to those who are not ashamed to admit that they have been to Ukay-ukays before, rummaging through the used clothing that is sometimes neatly arranged according to price, size and length. I, myself, frequents Ukay store rather than buying clothes from the department stores. Some calls these stores thrift shop/vintage shop but it doesn't necessarily mean that the clothes are all vintage and affordable. I guess you just have to find the best Ukay store that offers the best price that you can get and at the same time have a vast of clothes to choose from.
